Organic Azeotropic Separation
This device is a complete set of membrane separation equipment before entering the pressurized distillation. The core function of this device is to increase the concentration of DMC (dimethyl carbonate) in the DMC/methanol azeotropic composition. This effectively breaks down the original azeotropic composition of DMC/methanol, significantly reducing the energy consumption in the subsequent distillation stages.

Advantages of the System:

(1) The integrated new process of membrane and distillation allows the use of a lower-energy-consuming atmospheric pressure distillation column instead of a high-energy-consuming pressurized distillation column.


(2) After a single pass through the membrane in this process, a relatively high concentration of DMC (dimethyl carbonate) product can be obtained through distillation at lower pressures. In contrast, direct pressurized distillation inside a column requires multiple gas-liquid equilibrium stages to achieve DMC product.

(3) The entire operating conditions of the integrated new process involving membrane and distillation occur at positive pressure and around 70°C for the separation of DMC-methanol, while pressurized distillation columns require separation at high pressure and temperature around 170°C. Therefore, the new process effectively reduces operational energy consumption and enhances the safety of the entire system due to less stringent separation requirements.

(4) The new process is not only feasible but also economically advantageous.

DMC/Methanol Azeotropic Separation
The process involving a reaction tower, membrane, and pressurized tower, when compared to traditional methods, results in a cost saving of 61% per ton of DMC (dimethyl carbonate). For a set of membrane equipment with an annual production scale of 20,000 tons, this translates to an annual cost saving of over 15 million RMB. Breaking the azeotropic equilibrium system, this process efficiently achieves separation tasks that are challenging for traditional methods such as distillation, extraction, and adsorption, with high efficiency and low energy consumption.

3). The membrane separation system, coupled with high-low pressure distillation columns, reduces steam consumption to only 30-50% of traditional variable pressure distillation processes. The processing capacity of the high-pressure column is only 40% of that in traditional variable pressure distillation processes, and the processing capacity of the atmospheric column is only 60%.
4). Through membrane-coupled processes, the purity of DMC (dimethyl carbonate) is further enhanced, enabling the production of battery-grade DMC.
5). Azeotropic membranes do not introduce impurities during the application process, enhancing product purity.
6). The separation process operates continuously at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, making it simple, highly safe, easily controllable, and energy-efficient.
7). Azeotropic membranes use ceramics as a support layer, providing high-temperature resistance, pressure resistance, and low resistance.
